The pregnancy test stick trembled in her hands.
Two lines.
Positive.
Her vision blurred instantly as tears filled her eyes.
She pressed a hand over her mouth and rushed into the bathroom. The moment she bent over the sink, everything she had been holding in broke loose. She vomited, her body shaking uncontrollably.
Slowly, she slid down to the floor and sat beside the toilet, numb.
A broken whisper escaped her lips.
"No... that night was a mistake. We were both drunk... it just happened."
Her breath hitched as more tears fell.
"He even told me to take the pregnancy pill... but in anger, I forgot."
She buried her face in her hands, trembling harder now.
"What will I do now? Should I tell him... or hide it?"
A pause.
Her thoughts spiraled further.
"No... what if others get to know? Dadi will create drama for sure..."
Hospital...
"Dr. Vikram..."
He looked at the nervous teenage girl sitting in front of him. She was fidgeting, eyes lowered, clearly overwhelmed.
He let out a dramatic sigh.
"Am I that scary that you're nervous from me, sweetie?" he asked lightly, trying to ease her tension.
The girl immediately shook her head.
"Nahi... aap bahut handsome hain," she blurted out.
Her eyes widened the next second, and she quickly covered her mouth in embarrassment.
A soft chuckle escaped Dr. Vikram.
"It's okay, sweetie. Complimenting someone's beauty isn't a crime. Don't feel shy," he said gently. "So tell me, what's bothering you?"
The girl hesitated and looked at her mother.
Her mother, clearly worried, spoke instead.
"Doctor saab... meri beti 16 ki ho gayi hai. Abhi tak periods nahi aaye hain, aur ab woh thodi moti bhi hoti ja rahi hai..."
He looked at the girl's mother while jotting notes on the file.
"Spotting vagaira... kabhi kuch bhi notice nahi hua?" he asked softly.
The mother shook her head immediately.
"Nahi doctor saab. Mujhe toh meri beti ki bahut tension rehti hai... uski shaadi aur bachon ki."
Dr. Vikram paused, then looked up at her calmly.
"Ma'am," he said in a steady, reassuring tone, "abhi aapko shaadi aur bachon ki tension lene ki zaroorat nahi hai. Pehle zaroori hai ki bachi physically aur mentally healthy ho, aur apni life mein theek se grow kare."
He closed the file and continued, "Main abhi scan aur blood tests likh raha hoon. Aap woh karwa lijiye, phir hum better samajh paayenge situation ko."
